The Revolution Begins...

I just wanted to let everyone know that the dialogue that I was praying for... it has begun. There was a long drought in the craft desert, then Bruce Metcalf (and Andrew Wagner) raised his hand and the heavens opened. I am joking of course, but only a kind of. This is amazing, and no matter what you thought about his presentation at SNAG, it is starting to look like it will only be a footnote to the catalyst it has become for a much more important exchange that is currently growing in the blogosphere.
Check out these links, and start posting in these dialogues!

Yes, thanks for the links Gabriel! Received your email and you've got some really good ideas. I do think that somehow this conversation needs to be continued - there needs to be some type of forum. What is it exactly and how exactly will it function I'm not sure but you definitely have us (the American Craft Council) thinking. In fact I'm hoping to speak to Andrew Glasgow, our executive director, later today.

This of course is no promise that we can deliver what is needed but there just might be something that we can do or at the very least some suggestions that we can make. If anyone out there has some suggestions as to ways to move this dialogue forward and continue it, by all means speak up.

I do think Gabriel is right, the discussions happening at these various blogs will exhaust themselves before long so how do we insure that the thought that is taking place just doesn't get swept under the rug until next year's SNAG conference? Is there a way to continue this dialogue in a not so frantic manner? Are there any solutions or fresh ideas that can be drawn from all of this? What are they and what direction do they point? Perhaps there is a manifesto of sorts to be written based on all of this. That I think could be pretty interesting actually - maybe co-authored by Bruce and Annie!

Alright, enough already but seriously, what are the next steps from here? I'll be thinking about it and hope you all will too...
